Delivery differs by platform — this is the part people get wrong

Squarespace
There is no template file to download. Etsy allows five files per listing at 20MB each, with file names capped at 70 characters and unchangeable after upload. Three consequences for template sellers:
- Digital listings support no variations. You cannot build a "Basic / Pro / Agency licence" dropdown on one listing. Each tier is a separate listing.
- A 20MB ceiling forces link delivery for most real themes. The compliant pattern is a small PDF containing the download link, the licence terms, and the install steps — but your listing images and title must make it plainly obvious that the buyer receives a link, not an attached file.
- You cannot revoke a file after download; cancelling the order is the only route.

Licensing: write it down before your first sale
This is where template sellers get hurt, and Etsy will not arbitrate it for you.
- Single-site or multi-site? One purchase, one live domain, is the common default. Say so explicitly.
- Can the buyer resell it? Almost always no. State that redistribution, resale, and inclusion in another template product are prohibited — subject to the GPL caveat above for WordPress PHP.
- Can a freelancer use it for client work? Decide, and price the two tiers differently. Agencies will pay for the answer to be yes.

What does not work
- Listing a Shopify Theme Store theme on Etsy. Prohibited by Shopify's own terms.

- Shipping licensed fonts or stock photos inside the package without a redistribution licence.
